I’m officially launching on April 3rd. But the story starts tonight!

Hello everyone and welcome to the field notes (read: blog) of Surely the Raven Studio. This is my first official entry and don’t worry, I’ll keep it short this time around.

If you have been searching for a clash of precision, chaos, and the hushed calm of the late evening, then you’re in the right place.

At Surely the Raven Studio, my work is a conversation between that structure and the fluid nature of time. My studio is a space for the ‘Odd Rocks’—the fleeting moments, the beautiful imperfections, and the quiet transitions of the night. I don’t just want to capture a subject; I want to honor the way it moves through the world.

Why nighttime?

A fair question, honestly. If you’ve seen any of my videos, “why are you whispering?”. The answer is both really straightforward and yet somehow poetic. My identity as an artist has transformed over the years as my work and family life have taken form. And while my work and family are a part of my identity and influence my art, it needs its own space.

To distill my artist statement, I get something along the lines of-

“ I work at night because that’s when the world holds its breath, and I can finally hear the lines I’m trying to draw.”

…which is pretty true. The day is straight chaos as we all know and many of us find ourselves in the quiet of the night. For me, that really only ends up being about 1.5 hours. But hey, you make the best with what you’ve got!

Why Now?

Another fair question. And again, I present to you a simple answer: because I can. Because I have the passion! Because I have the momentum.

I’m so excited you are here and I hope that you stick around to see how my art takes shape. I am eager to share my learnings with you as I journey down this adventure, reflect on the past, and to make strides toward our dreams. Together!

This is worth repeating – I’m launching my art business April 3rd. Just watch me!

In fact, please do watch me and sign up for updates by joining the raven’s nest (my newsletter). I promise no spam- just the stories and the early access scoop from my journey!
