The First Experiment - Hibiscus

Let's talk tea!
It's been a journey of self discovery since early this year. I decided to open a business and look at me now - I have!
My whole life has had some level of art in it. While I was in school, I was always trying to get into as many art classes as I could while not distracting too much from the main courses I had to take each year. I'll never regret the decisions I've made up to this point since they've made me who I am, but sometimes I do wish I had pursued something a little more formal in higher education.
All of this is to say that I've dipped my toes into most types of media. And honestly? I've enjoyed most of them thoroughly. The one medium that terrified me for decades, however, was... you guessed it! Watercolor.
But rather than seeing the great works of others and feeling absolutely bamboozled, I decided to make it fully me. So, the Ephemeral Collection was born. Again, this collection is dedicated the beauty in the changing nature of things - that what is considered beauty one day may fade the next, but ought to be appreciated nonetheless.
I have loved painting with hibiscus tea SO much that I've decided to continue the experiments into other natural pigments, specifically in tea!
That does not mean that this purple hue of hibiscus is done. NO WAY! It means that I will have some dedicated pieces in the future to each new experiment, but I will also start to layer the different colored teas on top of one another.
I'm SO excited for you to see the results of my experiments! Perhaps it's the physicist in me (or the teacher) but I'm absolutely LOVING this journey.
Make sure to follow me as I reveal these new experiments by joining my newsletter called 'The Nest' (see button below!) and also join me on social media! I post regularly to these with my thoughts on the experiments as well as some of the backgrounds into each piece that I make.
Until next time!
